I miss the feature where I couldn't accidentally create a new, blank buffer when switching with Control-X b, which I think is switch-to-buffer. It appeared in emacs 23 and I have loved it because I would often create empty buffers by accident if the completion changed some how.

Do you know how to revert to that behavior? I've tried to figure it out to no avail ...

Looking forward to the new release. The funny thing about Emacs releases is that they feel so... incrementally better when you finally get to try them out. Perhaps that's because Emacs is so awesome in the first place. Must try occur edit mode.

Great list (part 1+2), thanks for putting it together! Editable *Occur* buffer and on a region are terribly useful. I cannot fathom the complexities of all that RTL language support stuff, those changes must have been painful. Waiting for emacs24 to roll out on Debian unstable, it hasn't been packaged yet, so we're still on 23.4.

Cheers and happy editing,
Sascha

Either Emacs has joined the “App Store” bandwagon or it has finally caught up to XEmacs circa 2001. Your call.

*sigh* Times change.

Various free software operating system distributions have had the concept of software repositories for decades now. Then Apple does something. Now, when *yet another* free software application implements a software repository model, they're suddenly copying Apple's App Store.
